Raw: Abuse of Power

The superstar abusing a diva plotline, which I fondly refer to as the Miss Elizabeth plotline, appears to be coming back. Kane spent the first half of the show first stalking Kelly Kelly, then trapping her in a storage room terrorizing her into loving him and (privately) revealing to him her secret lover. Shortly after the mid-point of the show, Kane attacked The Miz after his match. However, when the face Divas checked on Kelly and mentioned The Miz, Kelly seemed confused and disgusted…

Now, these plotlines are good when the guy is hated by the other superstars, not feared by them. And if The Miz really is the guy, is he going to pass as a knight in shining armor?

Sadly, it appears Shawn Michaels is in a similar plotline. I think I would have prefered Kelly mistreated by JBL and Shawn terrorized by Kane.

Stephanie announced (while repremanding Jericho) that next week there will be matches featuring every former World Heavyweight Champion on the roster, and the winners of those matches will go on to a Fatal Four Way Elimination Match the following week for a title shot. I predict three of the winners will be Chris Jericho, Batista and Randy Orton…

Raw Results (12/15):

Hacksaw Jim Duggan v. Chris Jericho, Jericho refuses to compete
CM Punk and Kofi Kingston v. The Miz and John Morrison, Morrison pins Kingston
Dolph Ziggler v. Santa Claas (Charlie Haas), Ziggler pins Santa

SD: Jump! Jump!

It appeared the Smackdown tape was started late as it opened with Triple H halfway down the ramp and Jeff Hardy leaping to attack him. So, what—we now skip over the spoken promos? In some cases, this would be a good thing, but this is Triple H we are talking about.

I think I would have liked it better if Hurricane Helms had come back as just The Hurricane.

Wondering where Natalya's BFF been? Allegedly, Victoria is retiring. She's still on the roster and is fulfilling her contract obligations.

Edge’s chat with Matt Hardy got me thinking—what if Matt was the one who attacked Jeff the night before Survivor Series? Matt has never been the WWE Champion (or the World Heavyweight Champion, for that matter) and perhaps he didn’t want his little brother to reach this accomplishment first. That would be the best twist since Triple H jumped Shawn Michaels in the parking lot a few years ago…

SD Results (12/12):
MVP v. R. Truth, R. Truth pins MVP
Primo v. The Brian Knedrick, Kendrick pins Primo
Hurricane Helms v. Shelton Benjamin, Helms pins Benjamin
The Great Khali v. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins, Khali wins
The Bella Twins v. Maryse and Natalya, a Bella pins Natalya
Trple H v. Jeff Hardy, ends when Edge spears Triple H first, then Hardy

Key WWE injuries/absences:
Evan Bourne: dislocated ankle and torn deltoid ligament, return by end of February
Mr. Kennedy: dislocated shoulder early August, return to action January or February
Ted Dibiase: shooting a movie (The Marine 2)

Pyscho out

Gene Snitsky was released of his WWE contract on Dec. 11. Snitsky was primarily a pyschopath heel on Raw, Heat and ECW since his debut in 2004. (Remember this? He was the one instrumental in Lita's miscarriage of Kane's baby.)

Raw: Slammys

Raw became the Slammy Awards Show with matches between award presentations. All we needed were song and dance numbers—what happened to the Nitro Girls? The awards went to:

Tag Team of the Year- Be jealous—The Miz and John Morrison won.
Best Finishing Maneuver- Evan Bourne’s Shooting Star Press
Extreme Moment of the Year- Jeff Hardy’s Plunge (off the scaffolding)
Couple of the Year- Edge and Vickie Guerrero (excuse me, was that really supposed to be the most annoying, disgusting relationship of the year award?)
Diva of the Year- Beth Phoenix (fight with Melina, Santino’s groin injured again during scuffle)
Oh My God Moment of the Year- CM Punk Cashes in Money in the Bank (Among the people he thanked were Rocky Balboa)
Match of the Year- Shawn Michaels v. Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 24
“Damn!” Moment of the Year- Khali Kiss Cam
Superstar of the Year- Chris Jericho

Other Notes:
MVP called out the other MVP in the house, Jimmy Rollins (for those of you who don’t know, he plays baseball) and the Phillies for having losing streaks longer than his. Rollins looked like he was really getting into it, standing and doing a little unheard smack of his own.

Matt Hardy looked like he borrowed his suit from the Big Show.

Alicia Fox (now on ECW-presented OMG award with Joey Stiles) was Edge and Vicki’s wedding planner.

Raw Results (12/8):
Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Semi-Finals- John Morrison v. CM Punk, Punk pins Morrison
MVP v. MVC (Charlie Haas), MVC pins MVP
Jeff Hardy v. Chris Jericho, Jericho pins Hardy
Santino and Beth Phoenix v. Finlay and Hornswoggle, Hornswoggle pins Santino
Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Semi-Finals- Kofi Kingston v. Rey Mysterio, Mysterio pins Kingston
Batista and Triple H v. Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Manu, Orton pins Batista
R Truth v. Dolph Ziggler, Ziggler wins by count out
John Cena v. Edge, match ends in typical pre-pay-per-view chaos with Jericho, Triple H and Jeff Hardy coming out to fight…

Key WWE injuries/absences:
Evan Bourne: dislocated ankle and torn deltoid ligament, return by end of February
Mr. Kennedy: dislocated shoulder early August, return to action January or February
Ted Dibiase: shooting a movie (The Marine 2)

Raw: Armageddon Idol

Well, now we know the real reason Chris Jericho has a problem with John Cena- his kid idolizes the guy. In fact, Jericho announced that he had eventually banned his 5-year-old son from watching Raw because of his love for Cena. However, he will lift the ban for Armageddon, so he can traumatize the boy and let him watch his father beat up his idol…

Before Armageddon, we do have Raw in Philly, which is a three-hour special including the Slammy Awards. (The last time Slammy Awards were given out was 1997.) Stephanie McMahon announced the nominees for Superstar of the Year- John Cena, Edge, Triple H, Batista, Chris Jericho and Jeff Hardy. She also announced matches for next week with nominees facing each other in singles matches, including World Heavyweight Champ Cena v. WWE Champ Edge.

(The Intercontinental Championship Tournament should continue next week with the semi-final matches of Kofi Kingston v. Rey Mysterio and CM Punk v. John Morrison.)

Back to this week in D.C., Jericho did attempt to interfere in Cena’s match, but was taken out by Cena. After the match, Cody Rhodes and Manu started attacking Cena, with Randy Orton and Jericho following. Because Cena can’t seem to make any friends, no one came out to help him.

In other news, Dolph Ziggler, who may look familiar to you because he was the caddy for Kerwin White (Chavo’s horrible golfer character) or because he was Nicky from the Spirit Squad, came back from his first wellness policy violation for his first match as this new character he introduced back in September.

Raw Results (12/1):
Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Round 1 Match: Rey Mysterio v. The Miz, Mysterio injured pre-match (attacked by Mike Knox on ramp)
CM Punk and Kofi Kingston v. Cody Rhodes and Manu, Kingston pins Rhodes
Jillian v. Melina, Melina pins Jillian
Batista v. Dolph Ziggler, Batista pins Ziggler
Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Round 1 Match: John Morrison v. Finlay, Morrison pins Finlay
Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Round 1 Match: Rey Mysterio v. The Miz, Mysterio pins Miz
Kane v. John Cena, Cena pins Kane

Key WWE injuries/absences:
Rey Mysterio: torn ligaments in elbow, as announced by Stephanie
Evan Bourne: dislocated ankle and torn deltoid ligament, return by end of February
Mr. Kennedy: dislocated shoulder early August, return to action January or February
