Pin up strong

Ironically, on the day Natalya and Beth Phoenix will wrestle each other on SmackDown, Kelly Kelly is released from her contract with the WWE.

On Twitter, Kelly (aka Barbie Blank) said, "Had an amazing 6 years with wwe (sic) made great friends and have the most loyal and amazing fans in the world thanks for the never ending support... Have exciting things in the works can't wait to share them with you stay tuned."

Kelly was never a great wrestler (you know, like Beth and Natalya), but got the WWE a lot of press with various Maxim cover shoots. Perhaps instead of trying to "pin up strong" she'll focus on her strength, modeling as a modern day pin-up.

She started off on WWE's version of ECW as a dancer in Extreme Expose. All three members later became champions-- one, Miss Tessmacher, in TNA-- and Layla is only one remaining in the WWE.

(By the way, rumors were that Beth was leaving in October. She denies they are true...)

Lawler update

Stacy Carter, Jerry Lawler's ex-wife, provided an update to fans on Lawler's condition moments ago. Earlier in the day, she reported on Twitter he had an angioplasty.

Her latest report is the following:

I have an update on Jerry. The docs are removing his ventilation & taking him out of sedation. He is responsive, which is great!!! It took a while to revive him last night so there's the concern of brain damage. He had some tests done which will show how much if any damage there is due to the lack of oxygen to his brain. Unfortunately, the results won't be in until in the morning. I appreciate all the calls, texts, tweets, & Facebook messages of support & I know Jerry will too. Thanks everybody!!

Jerry "The King" Lawler stabilized after heart attack on RAW

It was a surreal scene Monday night during Raw, when it was reported that Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed at ringside and was immediately administered CPR.
With Michael Cole visibly shaken and not speaking for over 20 minutes after the initial update, fans at home feared the worst.
It must have been particularly difficult for Bret Hart, who was the guest of honor in Montreal, to deal with the news about Lawler and go on with the show after what happened to his brother Owen.
One ringside fan emailed PWInsider to report that Lawler sounded as if he began snoring right before he collapsed. Prior to that, he communicated with a ringside employee, possibly to warn them something was wrong. EMTs were on the scene immediately, as were WWE medical personnel. They immediately ripped his shirt open and began administering medical assistance. A group of responders lifted Lawler to a stretcher, where he was rushed backstage and worked on before being transported via ambulance to a hospital.
But as the show went on eerily in silence, Cole periodically gave updates that kept getting more and more positive.
Somehow, Hart, John Cena and CM Punk got through their promo, and Cole let us know that Lawler was breathing on his own and pleaded for his broadcast partner to pull through.
It was a very real moment that was in stark contrast to the cartoon world that is the WWE on a regular basis.

Settling a Dispute

Today, the Trentonian newsroom was divided by music. A long battle waged on until I stepped in as the local historian to save the day.

Okay, so maybe it was just two people, and it wasn't a real battle.

One person claimed Ernest "The Cat" Miller once danced to Brodus Clay's music, "Somebody Call My Momma." Another person doubted the claim.

They were both wrong. The song was actually his theme song in 2004, and he didn't dance to it just once. Here's the video proof:

Sharing is caring

Last week's Raw included one of the best segments in history. Something that started out as an idea I feared, actually, became gold thanks to Kane.

If you missed it, it was a group anger management session in which Daniel Bryan soon found out he wasn't the only Superstar forced to attend. Kane entered the room, to the fear of just about everyone, and was asked to share his story.

Kane has quite a story, one you would expect from a soap opera star. I was hysterical laughing, remembering each part of Kane's story as he told it as only he can.

If you too were hysterical and missed something, here's the transcript:

Kane: I’m the Devil’s favorite demon.

Doctor/Group Leader: Great. So tell us, Kane, what makes you angry. Please, Kane we’re here to help so maybe start from your childhood. Remember sharing is caring.

Bryan: This is a bad idea.

Kane: Well, I grew up locked in a basement suffering severe psychological and emotional scarring when my brother set my parents on fire. From there I shifted around to a series of mental institutions until I was grown, at which point I buried my brother alive – twice...
Since then, I’ve set a couple of people on fire and abducted various co-workers. Oh, and I once electrocuted a man’s testicles. Years ago, I had a girlfriend named Katie. Let’s just say that didn’t turn out so well...
My real father is a guy named Paul Bearer, who I recently trapped in a meat locker. I’ve been married, divorced, broke up my ex-wife’s wedding and tombstoned the priest, and for reasons never quite explained, I have an unhealthy obsession with torturing Pete Rose.
Tonight we'll get another segment of anger management. I'm eager to see what Kane unmasks in his "anger collage."
